Moving Blankets And Your Summer Vacation Home

Category: Vacation Homes – admin – 3:20 pm

Summer is one of the most celebrated times of the year following Christmas. As a people, we look forward to the days when lawns are lush, the leaves on the trees whisper in the breeze and kids play in sprinklers. Sure, it can get uncomfortably hot, too, but summer still beats winter hands down. For some, summer is especially special because of the memories created at a vacation home or lodge. Lakeside cabins are a fabulous way for families and friends to get together and enjoy lots of activity and sunshine.

But as we all know, winter waits for no family. And neither does school. When August comes around, the beach and the lake are left behind. Talk turns to books and busses.

Although the vacation home has cared for you all summer, it’s now time for you to care for it. Clean out refrigerators and freezers and leave the doors open so they can air out. Disconnect water hoses, including the hose that runs to your washing machine. Cover all furniture and bedding with high quality moving blankets.

The moving blankets will serve as protection should a tremor cause some debris to fall inside the house, or if something more serious were to happen like a tree limb hit the roof and expose the interior to the elements for a short while.

Moving blankets are great at blocking out dust and absorbing odors that often seem to linger in an empty house.

Consider arranging for periodic visits by a security company, or pay a local to check on the house weekly to make sure windows and doors remain securely locked. You don’t want to go all winter without knowing a window was broken near the deck. Take care of your vacation home, and you’ll enjoy it for years to come.
